Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s latest gaming console is slated for a Holiday 2020 release. It will hit the markets later in the year, sometime between October and December. The console is going to be right up against Sony’ PS 5. The console was announced during the E3 2019 event as Project Scarlett.

Xbox X will be Microsoft’s most powerful game console ever. It will be able to run games in 4K resolution at 60 fps. There’s also the possibility of running games at 8K resolution or 120 fps. It will also support ray tracing and near-instant load times.

Xbox Series X will have a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU, a 1TB NVMe SSD, 16GB GDDR6 RAM and a 12 teraflop EDNA 2 GPU. It will also support external storage drives. Additional features of Xbox Series X includes Quick Resume for suspending multiple games, Dynamic Latency Input and Variable Refresh Rate.

On paper, the Xbox Series X seems to have an edge over Sony’s PS 5. For example, the Series X has 12 teraflops of graphics muscle, whereas the PlayStation 5 offers 10.3 teraflops. Series X has a 1TB SSD compared to the 825GB SSD of PS5.

Xbox Series X will launch with a new version of the Xbox Wireless Controller. The game pad will feature a dedicated Share button as well as a revised d-pad based on that of the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. The new controller will also work with Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, as well as iOS and Android via Bluetooth.
